US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew plans to pressure China to stop cyber attacks during a visit to Beijing, the first by a top American official after Xi Jinping assumed the presidency, Reuters reported, citing an anonymous official. Lew will also urge China to open its markets for foreign goods, protect intellectual property rights and allow the yuan to appreciate during the visit on Tuesday and Wednesday. Premier Li Keqiang separately said that US allegations that China is hacking the US are baseless. “I think we should not make groundless accusations against each other and spend more time doing practical things that will contribute to cyber security,” Li said.
