US wants China to cut coal

The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) committed nearly $1.5 million dollars in funding to support China’s new clean coal power development and aviation industry.

The aim is to reduce from China’s coal-fired power plants – a massive, Herculean task. The USTDA made a grant for an $832,877 feasibility study that will help the CPECGC design an 800 MW integrated gasification combined cycle power station.

The USTDA also expanded its commitment to the successful US-China Aviation Cooperation Program by awarding a grant of $664,065 to CAAC.

People’s Daily Online reported these grants are hardly more than a token effort in dealing with the universal problem.
