Ministry of Commerce data showed a 104.9% year on year increase in the value of China mobile phone exports to US$7.15 billion for the January to July period. China, the world's leading mobile exporter, shipped 73.41 million handsets during the period, an increase of 55.9%. Foreign-led ventures still dominated exports. Motorola, Siemens, Nokia and Ericsson alone accounted for 66% of GSM exports. Chinese GSM makers accounted for only 4% of handset exports. The United States, Hong Kong, Germany and Singapore account for 75% of Chinese mobile exports, the ministry said.
