Vanguard Group has announced plans to add mainland Chinese stocks to its Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets Exchange Traded Fund, making it the first such emerging markets ETF with direct exposure to China’s volatile A-share market, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the company. The fund, which ranks among the largest US-listed ETFs with around US$50 billion in assets, will add the shares as part of an expansion of several Vanguard international index funds to broader FTSE benchmark indices. The shares will represent 5.6% of the new benchmark for the fund.
