Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China Peng Bo announced on Wednesday that a new system to screen foreign information technology products before they are used on the mainland would go into effect this year, Bloomberg reported, citing state media. The regulator had previously stated that the review would include new laws, regulations and government organs to facilitate and coordinate the oversight of technology. China is aiming to purge most foreign technology from banks, the military, state-owned enterprises and key government agencies by 2020 and substitute domestically produced products, people familiar with the plan told Bloomberg last year.
