China is directing a recent crackdown on prostitution, gambling and drugs to go national, Reuters reported, citing a Monday statement by the Ministry of Public Security. The campaign started earlier this month after state broadcaster CCTV aired an expose of vice in the city of Dongguan, where subsequent police raids led to the detention of nearly 1,000 people. In a warning to the “protective umbrella” of official collusion, the ministry said officials would be “seriously investigated, and crimes will be resolutely investigated in accordance with the law.”
