Vice Premier Li Keqiang said greater effort must be made to accelerate China’s economic restructuring in order to achieve sustainable development amid global uncertainties, state media reported. "The global economy is still facing great uncertainties and has not shaken off the deep impact of the financial crisis," Li said. Li called for a "deep understanding" of the proposals for national development for the 2011-2015 period. He said the world economy is growing slowly and the "structure of global demand is changing, which puts new pressure on China in its efforts to stabilize and expand exports and maintain a stable and relatively rapid economic growth." The comments made by Li, who is tipped to succeed Wen Jiabao as premier, reflect the shift in focus of the government’s economic planning.
