VW ventures 'should list'

Volkswagen has been urged to list its two Chinese joint ventures, Li Rongrong, head of the State Asset Supervision and Administration Commission, said, revealing he proposed the idea to Volkswagen China President Bernd Leissner. Li said the move could help improve governance at VW's market-leading joint ventures, and boost standards of corporate governance generally in China. Such a listing would be the first share domestic share-market debut by a major multinational firm. VW has joint ventures to build sedans with two state-owned automakers, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (Group) in Shanghai and China FAW Group Corp. in Changchun. VW has not commented publicly on Li's idea.
