Wal-Mart appoints new China CEO

Wal-Mart (WMT.NYSE) has appointed a new China CEO, Reuters reported, citing a Friday statement from the US retailer. Sean Clarke, the current chief operating officer in China, will take over the role from June 1, replacing the current chief executive for the China region, Greg Foran, who will become Asia CEO. Wal-Mart has been in China for 17 years, but has stumbled in a stiffly competitive market. This year, Wal-Mart was embroiled in a scandal over tainted donkey meat, and workers went on strike at some of its stores. The company is now changing its China strategy.
