Wearable computer makes you look like a dork

[photopress:It_wearabl_computer.jpg,full,alignright]A representative from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China displays the operation of their new invention — a wearable computer. It was on show at a hi-tech fair Jinan, capital of eastern China’s Shandong Province.

The mini computer, with a portable main frame, an eye-monitor, a multifunctional camera and a palm-keyboard, is no more than 1.5 kilograms in weight.

The computer is the brainchild of the faculty at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

However, it is not a totally new idea. Such devices have been around for around ten years and, indeed, were on sale to the public in New York in 1988. The writer was foolish enough to buy one.

They are, of course, a fascinating idea and one day, one day, someone will think of an use for them. But not just yet awhile.
