White House sees headway on US-China trade deal

The United States and China “expect to make more headway” in trade talks this week, said White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow, reported Reuters.

“I can’t report any of the details, but it’s a larger, grander discussion than anything we’ve had before in US-China trade relations, and there’s a certain amount of optimism,” Kudlow said at the US Chamber of Commerce.

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are set to resume talks with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He on Wednesday, days after both sides reported progress in talks last week in Beijing.
