Experts are to look at updating plans for construction at Pudong airport in the light of Shanghai's successful bid to host the 2010 World Expo, said People's Daily. Some 70m tourists are expected to travel to Shanghai during the expo, creating an additional 15m- 20m airline passengers, said Du Chuncai, president of the Shanghai airport group.
Hongqiao and Pudong airports handled a combined 24.68m passengers in 2002, but capacity is expected to expand significantly in coming years to 90m by 2010.
