World Expo takes shape

Shanghai World Expo starts in 121 days and it seems that it will meet its timetable and be a glorious event.

Despite forecasts that Shanghai would have difficulty getting the World Expo operating properly because of world financial problems, it seems that it is coming together very well. Certainly it will be ready for a grand opening on May 1 which is only 121 days away. And the 200 participants seem well set to greet 70 million visitors during the period.

The theme of Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life," representing the common wish for better living in future urban environments. And the country pavilions representing that theme appear to be keeping to the timetable.

Meanwhile the Urban Best Practices Area and corporate pavilions of the Shanghai World Expo are being built in the Puxi Part of the 5.28 square kilometer World Expo Park.

Our illustration shows the Swedish pavilion where futuristic designs will sing in harmony a song of peace. And so it goes on. 200 different exhibits to visit, all with a common theme.
