The head of the World Trade Organization (WTO) called on China to use its growing economic clout to help jump-start stalled world free trade talks.
Supachai Panitchpakdi said the world's fifth-largest trading power could help bridge differences between developing and developed countries that led to a breakdown in negotiations in September in Cancun, Mexico.
Those talks ended prematurely as developing nations led by China and Brazil faced off against rich nations like the US and Japan over a host of issues such as agricultural subsidies paid to farmers in rich countries.
