China Southern Airlines said its Xiamen Airlines unit has agreed to buy 10 Boeing 737 aircraft. The acquisition will expand the Guangzhou-based carrier’s overall fleet capacity by 2.3%.
China Southern Airlines, China’s largest carrier by fleet size, said in a statement the combined list price of the planes is around US$699 million. It did not disclose the actual purchase price but said Boeing had granted it "certain price concessions."
Smart Money said Xiamen Airlines expects to take delivery of the planes starting in 2015 and continuing through 2016.
