[photopress:qihoo.jpg,full,alignright]On the Internet in China, Qihoo.com prompted users to de-install the Yahoo! toolbar — which offers a search engine and allows users to block viruses and pop-up ads from their browsers — suggesting that it posed a risk.
Yahoo thought this was not the decent thing to do and sued.
A Beijing court agreed with Yahoo! The court ruled that Qihoo’s operator, Beijing Sanjiwuxian Internet Technology, engaged in ‘unfair competition’ and ordered it to immediately cease the activity. And, perhaps more importantly, compensate Yahoo China for damages and legal costs, and publicly clarify incorrect allegations about the toolbar.
