Contracts for 27 dyke reinforcement projects have been signed in Wuhan, Xinhua reported. The projects are located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze and are part of a programme to reinforce the dykes along the river launched by the central government in 1999. The contracts are worth about Yn800m and the Yangtze River Water Resources Committee, which is running the programme, received a total of 900 bids from 230 companies for this round of contracts.
