The China Youth Development Foundation, which oversees Project Hope, said that it would hire international accounting firms to audit its books, Xinhua reported. The announcement followed recent allegations by former members of staff that the foundation, a charity that helps children from poverty-stricken families to obtain education, had misused donations.
Project Hope said that it would improve its management and provide more information to donors about how the money was used. However, it also said that it would safeguard its legitimate rights and take legal action against malicious attacks.
