ZTE Corp (0763.HK) and Huawei Technologies are planning to roll out new mobile devices, including tablets and 3G handsets based on Google’s (GOOG.NASDAQ) Android operating system, the Wall Street Journal reported. ZTE said its V9 tablet PC will be released in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America and Europe toward the end of the year. The V9 will have a seven-inch touchscreen and will have a price tag set at just 50% higher than a typical smart phone. Huawei is due to launch four new Android-based smart phones with prices aimed at undercutting sector rivals. Competition has been heating up both in China and globally as electronics makers look to come up with devices to curtail Apple’s (AAPL.NASDAQ) dominance with its iPod, iPhone and iPad products.
