Print and television advertising expenditures in the mainland climbed to USD$23.3bn in 2004, a 25% increase over the previous year, according to Beijing-based CTR Market Research. The cosmetics and toiletries sector spent more than any other to reach consumers, doling out US$4.8bn, a 34% increase from 2003. Food, pharmaceuticals, retail and services, and real estate companies were the other top four advertisers in terms of advertising outlay.
