Speaking at the World Economic Conference in Davos, Switzerland, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that Japan and China must avoid mistakes made by Britain and Germany as the two East Asian countries are in a “similar situation” the two European countries were before World War One, Reuters reported, citing Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga. He also said China’s steady rise in military spending was a major source of regional instability. Suga said that Abe’s comments should not be interpreted to mean that war between the two countries was possible.
