Tesla unveils pricing strategy for China

Tesla Motors (TSLA.NASDAQ), a US electric carmaker, unveiled its pricing strategy for China on Thursday, with a version of its Tesla Model S battery car to be sold at US$121,300 instead of the US price of US$81,070, Reuters reported. The reason for difference in price is due to shipping costs, import duty and other taxes but Tesla has stated that the company has a “competitive” pricing strategy. Over the past year, global luxury automakers have been accused by China of selling imported cars often for twice or three times the price they charge in the US and Europe.
