France's Alcatel said it was awarded a multimillion contract by Guangdong Telecom to build out its metropolitan area network and broaden its IP-based data service portfolio. The project, expected to be completed in next month, will provide Guangdong Telecom subscribers with advanced Internet access and "triple play" (voice, data, video) IP services. Guangdong province currently has the most broadband subscribers in the Mainland.
