CSMC Technologies Corp, an affiliate of Singapore-based Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd, plans to construct a US$1 billion 8-inch chip factory in eastern China, most likely in the Yangtze Delta Region, according to Chinese media reports.
Production at the facility is scheduled to begin by 2007, according to the reports.
