China has shut down a news and information Web portal (www.gaychinese.net) serving the country's lesbian and gay community, according to press reports, with its manager telling the Agence France Presse that Beijing considers its content too explicit. The manager, however, said the site was strictly an online news source for Chinese homosexuals.
