Beijing hotels face power cut

Beijing authorities announced plans to cut electricity supplies to major hotels in the city by 20%. The city's tourism bureau warned power would be cut automatically if any hotel exceeded its assigned quota. An implementation timetable has yet to be drawn up. China is faces its worst power shortage since the 1980s, Xinhua News Agency reported, with this summer's shortfall between demand and supply projected to be 30 million kilowatts.
