Thirteen retailers in Beijing have set up a joint venture to help them meet competition from international competitors, Financial Daily said. The move was supported by the Beijing Municipal Commerce Commission, which wants to develop one or two leading retailers in the city similar to those in Shanghai. Agreement has yet to be reached on the adoption of uniform brand names and a common distribution system.
