Beijing's fiscal revenue increased to RMB 43.73 billion over the first nine
months – a rise of 18.2 percent from the same period last year, according to government
statistics.
The city has collected 75.8 percent of its annual budgeted fiscal
revenue.
During the height of the SARS scare Beijing exempted badly
affected businesses or granted grace periods for payment, which allowed businesses to
recover quickly and resume paying taxes.
