Beijing wins Grenada away from Taiwan

The mainland scored another small victory over Taiwan, persuading Grenada to re-establish ties with Beijing. Previously Grenada was one of the 27 mainly African, Caribbean and Latin American nations to have ties with Taipei. Taiwan normally lavishes cash on countries that accord it recognition. Beijing did not say anything about Grenada aid, announcing the news. Grenada's switch comes as a second diplomatic blow to Taiwan. Vanuatu recently abandoned plans to form links with Taipei.
