A Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center (CSR) has been formally set up at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
CASS is made up of 31 research institutes and more than 50 research centers, which carry out research activities covering about 260 sub-disciplines of different grades.
The aim is to explore a set of CSR theoretical rules with Chinese characteristics. It will also be establishing and improving an effective CSR external mechanism, and assisting Chinese enterprises to find a pratical path for CSR. This is part of a worldwide trend which is now becoming very apparent in Asia.
Vice Dean of CASS, Chen Jiagu, has been appointed chairman of the Research Center.
Chen Jiagui said, ‘Fulfilling CSR is the fundamental point for corporate sustainable development, global trend of accelerating economic development and social progress, and motive force for harmonious society.’
Corporate Social Responsibility can be condensed down to mottoes as in ‘Do the decent thing’, ‘do no harm’, or even Google’s motto ‘Don’t be evil’.
