China, an electronic waste bin: Greenpeace

The environmental group Greenpeace warned that China has become a major dumping site for hazardous electronic waste generated by domestic manufacturers, and to a lesser degree, illegally exported from US, Japan and Europe, creating risks for people and the environment. Greenpeace said up to 4,000 tonnes of toxic high-tech waste is discarded in the world every hour, although it did not cite
how much of that ended up in China, only that it was a significant volume, since China is a major electronics manufacturing site.
