US House panel moves to thwart arms sales to China

In an effort to preempt arms exports to China, the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, in a report accompanying a 2006 defense spending bill, has recommended barring the Pentagon from buying goods or services for five years from foreign companies that sell advanced weapons to China, saying China's military initiative now "exceeds its legitimate security needs".
