China halted imports of another New Zealand milk product Monday after tests showed it contained excessive levels of nitrates, further jeopardizing the reputation of the world’s largest diary exporter, Reuters reported. New Zealand’s agricultural regulator said it has revoked export certificates for four China-bound consignments of lactoferrin manufactured by Westland Milk Products after higher-than-acceptable nitrate levels were found by tests in China. The incident comes just weeks after another New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra said some of its dairy ingredients were contaminated with a botulism-causing bacteria.
