$36,600 – The minimum annual individual salary a resident of Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou must earn in order to qualify for an individual travel visa to Japan. The Japanese government expects the move could bring 250,000 more Chinese tourists to the country up from a yearly average 1 million.
2m – The estimated number of people who already went to visit their relatives’ graves last weekend. The annual Qingming Festival holiday starts next weekend from April 4 to 6.
103 – Countries which have computers that have been compromised by China’s “GhostNet” cyber-espionage network, according to researchers at the University of Toronto.
41,846 – cases of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) reported in 30 provinces (excluding Tibet) this year up to March 27, according to the Ministry of Health. Most of the cases were in rural areas. HFMD has killed 19 children so far this year.
