China dealers' auto inventories hit peak unseen since 2012

Mainland car dealers were sitting on 1.83 months of unsold inventories in November, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing data from the China Automobile Dealers Association. Dealers’ lots saw an increase over October’s 1.48 months of inventories, reaching the highest levels in almost 2 1/2 years–excluding figures from February, which tend to be distorted by the annual Lunar New Year holiday. In China, analysts regard 1 1/2 months’ of sales on lots as the “alert level” in which dealers should begin to be concerned about high inventory.
