China eyes wind power

Environmental group Greenpeace released a statement asserting that China's ambitions to increase its wind power production capacity will allow it to leapfrog over more environmentally harmful energy sources. China recently published an action plan in which it envisions renewable energy sources such as wind power constituting 10% of its total installed electricity capacity by 2010. By 2010, China aims to have 60 gigawatts (60,000MW) of electricity coming from renewable energy sources, with four gigawatts from wind power, Greenpeace said.
