An insider of the leading mobile carrier, Research in Motion which produces thw Blackberry, says that an alpha test is being kicked off for the smartphone, and there is on plan to carry out related promotions. The ‘smart phone’ lacks the distinctive hard keyboard of the original Blackberry and follows the iPhone lead. In China it is the favored model. This is not always true elsewhere.The deal is being kept fairly quiet and there will be no detailed information for several weeks.
China Telecom talked with RIM for more than half a year, and apparently reached a cooperative letter of intent last month.
The story is that it will introduce at least three models of BlackBerry, which are compatible with both CDMA and GSM network. China Telecom will offer two monthly service packages for individual and corporate users.
Zibb says that US customers use BlackBerry as portable computers to send and receive emails, while short message is the major function required by Chinese users.
