The Taiwan computer company Invetec is extending its investment on the mainland with a new plant in Chongqing.
Inventec’s plans come amid increasing trade exchanges between Taiwan and China since President Ma Ying-jeou took office 19 months ago. Since Ma came in power, he has worked to loosen limits on Taiwanese investment in China and allowed Chinese companies to invest in Taiwan.
Inventec said its new plant will first make notebook computers, and later on will produce computer servers and mobile devices as well as develop software. It said the plant will be built in the western Chinese city of Chongqing, but the deal is still pending approval from the Taiwanese authorities.
Breitbart said the company expects the plant to generate $10 billion of output annually after it starts operations. Inventec’s first China plant is in Shanghai.
