China Unicom, which supports GSM and CDMA mobile platforms, said it was using its CDMA 1X network to launch 2.75G value-added telecoms services to win mobile market share. Unicom currently has 52 million subscribers. China's second-largest mobile company said it had nearly completed its upgrade to 2.75G, which boasts transmission speeds of 153.6 kilobytes per second (kbps) which supports photo e-mail and fast wireless access. Unicom said it was cooperating with 600 content providers to supply value-added services.
