China, US to focus on safety standards

China and the US agreed to cooperate to improve safety precautions on exports between the two countries. The cooperation will involve training of inspection personnel in China. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will work with China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine to ensure quality, safety and proper labeling of products exported to the US. The CPSC has recently focused on safety standards for Chinese cigarette lighters, bicycle helmets and fireworks.
