China's trade surplus surges

For the second consecutive month, China's trade surplus rose sharply, as exports rose 30.6% to US$65.96bn from a year ago, while imports grew a relatively slow 15.1% to US$$56.28bn, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing official statistics. China's June trade surplus registered US$9.68bn, widening its surplus for the first half of 2005 to US$39.65bn, from a deficit of US$6.8bn in the same period last year.
