Chinese anti-graft inspectors to probe 11 provinces

China will carry out a new round of anti-corruption investigations, South China Morning Post reported, citing a state media account of a Saturday announcement by Wang Qishan, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. Inspectors will conduct surprise visits at 11 provincial-level governments, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai-based Fudan University and state-owned China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation, the anti-graft chief said. Last year, discipline inspectors conducted 155,000 investigations based on tip-offs from the public, resulting in more than 160,000 officials in government and state enterprises being prosecuted, Wang said.
