Private helicopters were being sold on the country’s leading e-commerce platform, Taobao.com, at prices ranging from RMB600,000 to RMB1.6 million (US$91,350-243,331), according to a Changsha-based newspaper.
Vendors said they purchased the helicopters directly from American companies and would deliver the products to the buyers’ homes in two to three months, China.org.cn reported.
ATaobao official was quoted as saying the company had closed down the business of selling private helicopters early this week as the practice violated Taobao’s regulations.
According to Chinese laws, the use of private helicopters must be approved by the country’s aviation administration.
