CORRECTION: In the April 22 China Economic Review news briefs, words by US Assistant Secretary of State James Kelly were taken out of context.
Kelly said: "At the same time we have very real concerns that our efforts at deterring Chinese coercion might fail if Beijing ever becomes convinced Taiwan is embarked on a course toward independence and permanent separation from China, and concludes that Taiwan must be stopped in these efforts."
China Economic Review regrets any inconvenience or confusion that may have arisen from the lack of context in its original report on Kelly's statement.
