Crude import growth slowed in 2005

Crude oil imports slowed in 2005 to December 1, reported Dow Jones. Chinese refiners increased gasoline and diesel output, but cut back on of jet-fuel kerosene. Gasoline output grew 4.5% in November year on year to 1.31 million barrels a day, while January-November output rose 3.9% to 1.25 million barrels a day. Diesel fuel production was up 9.6% in November to 2.33 million barrels a day, and by 9.7% for the first 11 months to 2.25 million barrels a day. But aviation kerosene production fell 10% in November year on year to 191,900 barrels a day, suggesting more diesel and less jet-kerosene, and greater use of domestic output that cut into import growth.
