A manager and an electrician have been arrested after being implicated in last week's Jilin hospital fire, the worst in 55 years, taking the lives of 39 and injuring 182, state media reported. Electrician, surnamed Zhang, and the hospital's unidentified logistics director, are accused of "violating operations rules". Police said Zhang responded to a power outage by turning it on again rather than checking the cause. He then found smoke coming from the electrical distribution room by which time it was too late to stop the fire from spreading.
