Construction on a series of dams in China’s southwest could force 60,000 people from their homes, Reuters reported. Outgoing Premier Wen Jiabao vetoed the project on the Nu River in Yunnan province in 2005 but in January the government announced the project would resume. The government has started planning relocation for the residents affected by the series of four dams but has yet to complete an environmental impact assessment, the head of the prefecture in Yunnan said.
