Days Inn opens in Beijing

New Jersey-based hotel-motel chain Days Inn Group, a unit of Cendant Corp, took a very upscale turn, opening its first five-star property in Beijing last month. Days Hotel & Suites Beijing, which becomes the group's China flagship, is the sixth hotel to join the group in the five months it has been operating on the mainland. Since Days Inn opened in 1970, the chain has grown to almost 2000 hotels in 15 countries. Cendant owns 40 other hotel brands worldwide, among them Howard Johnson, Ramada and Travelodge.
