Deal to prevent train collisions

Hollysys Automation Technologies has won a contract from China’s Ministry of Railways to supply China Railways with a rail signaling system. The deal, worth US$30.45 million, is for the supply of its high-end Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system to stop Chinese trains from colliding. The system will work at speeds up to 350 km/h and is likely to be supplied to China Railways next year between May and November
The system is installed at the back and the front of the train and communicates using a land-based Train Control Center. The data, including the railway track condition and train speed, is recorded in digital format. The Control Center then issues the ideal driving speed. It does much more but that is the basic process.
AzoRobotics.com reports that ATP also ensures security by activating the emergency break if it identifies a potential menace or crash ahead.
