The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) has added its voice to growing calls for more open access to China’s markets, the South China Morning Post reported. In its most recent "China Position Paper," the lobby group said foreign companies are losing market share in China in a number of industries due to discriminatory regulations. The paper accused China of violating its World Trade Organization commitments. "Compulsory certification in excess of what is reasonable is being used to keep foreigners out of the market and business license requirements continue to exclude foreign companies from entire sectors," it said. The EUCCC’s comments add to complaints about China’s openness to foreign investment from chief executives of several Fortune 100 companies, as well as EU and US officials.
